What is your personal mission when it comes to how you improve educational opportunities for your students?

Students are agents in their own learning. “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”

What drew you to the field of education initially?

I was drawn to the field of education for as long as I can remember. I used to babysit a child who was taken too soon due to Leukemia. The memories made with him sparked my initial interest in education. In working alongside his Foundation, I’m reminded of the passion I have for children and the field of education as a whole.

What’s the best advice you have for educators on how to achieve academic growth like yours?

Set high standards for yourself and your students and follow through.
