What is your personal mission when it comes to how you improve educational opportunities for your students?

My mission is to ignite the spark of curiosity within my students and empower them to become lifelong learners. Education is not just about transferring knowledge but fostering a love for learning that will serve them throughout their lives. Every student has unique strengths and potential waiting to be unlocked, and I strive to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where each student can thrive. My goal is to instill not only subject matter knowledge but also critical thinking skills, creativity, and a strong sense of empathy, so that they can positively impact the world, their community, and possibly change the trajectory for themselves and their families. I’m committed to making a difference in their educational journey and helping them realize their full potential.

How have you used your award?

I was able to take my father, who worked three jobs when I was younger, on a small vacation to Puerto Rico. I am also planning on using the rest of my award to invest in my future!

What’s the best advice you have for educators on how to achieve academic growth like yours?

It’s essential to prioritize adaptability and personalization. Embrace change and new teaching methods, and tailor your approach to meet each student’s unique needs. Stay passionate about your subject matter, as enthusiasm is contagious and can inspire your students to excel.
